The a/w 2010 collection will revolve around inspiration from the distinctive way the 80’s conceived the future in their films and the way that one’s mind recollects these films. The collection creates a universe were the end of civilization is near and gangs fight for the power on their modified dirt bikes. Many of the cuts are inspired from either biker suits, robots, safety gear or armor and the texture and feel of the garments is heavily inspired from the idea of living in this dirty and plague infected world.
The label martin barslund is provocative and bold, and finds its energy in experimentation and curiosity. For me as a designer it is important to stay true to my convictions and be consistent in my work rather than pleasing the majority, a few styles in each collection will be attention seekers which reinforce the looks and ensure publicity. The labels headquarters will also function as workshop, for creative experiments. The shop will be an independent workspace for a handful of young creative people working under own labels in a collaboration of Various projects and shows, the collaboration may include common suppliers and outsourcing channels, though much of the aftercare will take place in the workshop.
